Criminal Justice and Custody
Criminal Justice and Custody is responsible for the processes that connect police investigations with court proceedings, and for the operation of the force's custody services. It supports the safe and accountable handling of people, evidence and case records within the applicable law.
How we work
The command includes custody services, criminal justice casework, evidence management, witness care and support for summary proceedings. Staff prepare and check case material, manage exhibits and records, support witnesses and help investigators meet the requirements of the criminal justice process. Custody staff work with investigators and other responsible services to manage detention and release decisions.
Reporting and enquiries
Use the approved police contact or information-request services for enquiries about a case. Access to custody records and evidence is controlled.
