Mounted Section
The Mounted Section uses trained police horses and riders to provide a visible presence and additional operational support. Mounted officers may be used for public events, community engagement, public order operations and searches.
How we work
Mounted deployments are planned with local commanders and the Joint Operations Unit. Riders can provide visibility in busy areas and support other officers at events where the use of mounted policing is appropriate. The section is also responsible for specialist training and the care and readiness of its horses.
