Public Protection and Safeguarding
Public Protection and Safeguarding works to protect people who may be at risk of abuse, exploitation or serious harm. Its responsibilities include domestic abuse, stalking, safeguarding, offender management and arrangements with other services to manage risks.
How we work
Specialist staff support investigations, assess safeguarding concerns and work with local policing, social care and other responsible organisations. They help manage risk and ensure that protective action and information-sharing have a proper basis. The department also supports the work needed when an individual or family may need continuing assistance beyond an immediate police response.
Reporting and enquiries
If you need to report abuse, stalking or a safeguarding concern, use the appropriate dedicated reporting route. Individual specialist teams are not substitutes for those services.
