JOU Roads Policing Department

The JOU Roads Policing Department is responsible for specialist policing of the road network. Its work includes reducing road harm, responding to serious incidents, enforcing road traffic law, tackling criminal use of vehicles and supporting planned road operations.

How we work

Roads Policing Units carry out patrol and enforcement activity. Dedicated teams investigate serious collisions, deal with commercial-vehicle offences, target dangerous driving and support road safety work. The department also helps plan specialist escorts and works with local police officers and partner authorities when incidents affect traffic or public safety.

Reporting and enquiries

Use the Road traffic incident reporting service to report an incident. Information about an existing report should be sent through the approved update route.
