Armed Response Vehicle Department (ARVD)
The Armed Response Vehicle Department provides appropriately trained armed officers who can respond to incidents requiring specialist firearms support. Armed response teams operate within the Joint Operations firearms command structure.
How we work
The department provides operational resources for authorised firearms deployments and can support both urgent incidents and planned operations. Officers work with control-room staff, local police and accredited firearms commanders. Training, equipment standards and deployment decisions are subject to the force's firearms governance arrangements.
