Economic Crime Unit
The Economic Crime Unit investigates complex fraud, money laundering and other financial offences within its policing remit. Its work involves following financial evidence, examining patterns of offending and identifying those responsible.
How we work
The unit works with local investigators, intelligence analysts and relevant financial or prosecuting authorities. Investigations can involve tracing transactions, reviewing records and supporting measures to prevent continuing criminal activity. The unit also supports local teams where specialist financial knowledge is required.
Reporting and enquiries
Use the crime-reporting route for a suspected fraud or related offence. The unit does not operate a separate public compensation service.
