Dog Section
The Dog Section provides trained police dog handlers and oversees canine capabilities within Joint Operations. Police dogs can support searches, the location of people and other authorised policing operations.
How we work
Handlers undertake specialist training with their dogs and work alongside response officers, investigators and search teams. Dog deployments are assessed against the needs of the incident and the welfare of the animal. The section also maintains standards for the handling and use of police dogs.
Reporting and enquiries
Requests for police assistance should be made through the usual report or contact services rather than by contacting the Dog Section directly.
