Force Support Unit
The Force Support Unit provides trained officers and specialist equipment for operations that need more support than a district team can provide. Its work includes public order, major events, specialist entry support and reinforcement at serious incidents.
How we work
The unit assists police commanders in preparing for and managing planned events, protests, searches and critical incidents. It can support local teams with trained resources and specialist advice, including appropriately authorised support during high-risk operations. The unit works alongside other Joint Operations teams and is deployed through formal police command arrangements.
