Forensic Services

Forensic Services helps investigations by examining scenes, objects and digital material for evidence. The department brings together crime-scene investigators, forensic imaging, fingerprints, digital examinations and specialist scientific support.

How we work

Staff recover and preserve material, arrange forensic tests, keep records of examinations and provide findings to investigators. Specialist services also support collision investigations and the handling of digital devices. Work is prioritised and controlled through investigative needs, evidence-handling rules and relevant professional standards.

Reporting and enquiries

Forensic examinations are arranged by investigating officers. The department does not provide direct public testing or accept unsolicited evidence outside the approved reporting process.
