Police Control Room

The Police Control Room manages incidents that need an operational police response. Control-room staff assess the information received, identify the urgency of an incident, dispatch appropriate available resources and monitor developments while officers are deployed.

How we work

The control room works closely with Contact Management Centres, district response teams and specialist operational commanders. It updates incidents as information changes, passes important information to responding officers and co-ordinates additional support where needed. Control-room decisions are recorded so that incidents can be followed up and reviewed.

Reporting and enquiries

New reports must go through the Constabulary's public reporting and contact services. The control room is an operational function and does not operate as a public enquiry desk.
