Contact Management Department
Contact Management is often the first part of the Constabulary that a member of the public speaks to. The department receives calls, online reports and enquiries at police front counters. Staff record incidents, assess the information provided and decide whether the matter needs a police officer, further investigation, an appointment or advice from another service.
How we work
Contact-management centres handle reports and enquiries. The Police Control Room manages live incidents and the deployment of available officers. Staff involved in crime recording and initial investigation gather information and pass enquiries to the right local or specialist team. Training, quality assurance and technical support help the service maintain consistent standards.
Reporting and enquiries
To report a crime or provide information, use the Report or Tell us about services. Do not contact individual control-room staff with a new report.
