Custody Service
The Custody Service manages the force's designated custody facilities and the arrangements for people detained in police custody. Its work includes booking in, risk assessment, detention records, welfare and the management of custody procedures.
How we work
Custody officers and detention staff work with investigators, healthcare providers and legal representatives. They maintain records of decisions, checks and movements, help secure the proper handling of property and ensure custody processes are carried out under the applicable legislation and safeguards. The service also supports inspection, training and custody standards.
Reporting and enquiries
Questions about an individual case or the disclosure of custody records must follow the correct police information and legal channels.
