Downmere District is part of the Constabulary's Central Area. It includes Downmere town, the Eastsea coast and the rural, lake and upland communities around Merewick. Neighbourhood policing is organised around three teams, with district response and investigation functions supporting the area.

Local policing in Downmere
The neighbourhood teams provide the local point of contact for recurring concerns and community engagement. District Police Officers respond to incidents and carry out initial enquiries; local investigators take forward matters requiring further investigation. Rural and coastal communities are served through the relevant neighbourhood team rather than being treated as separate police districts.
